Ash Ketchum, is determined and intensely eager to become the best Pokemon
trainer in the
world! Ash's closest Pokemon is the lovable Pikachu, who helps Ash fight other
Pokemons

| Pokemon: Mystery of Mount Moon
The Second of the Pokemon Video Series.
|
These episodes of the TV series center on Ash Ketchum, an adolescent boy
who aspires to become a champion Pokemon trainer. He sets out for his first tournament,
accompanied by his sometimes friend, a girl named Misty, and his special pet
Pokemon,
Pikachu. Along the way, he defeats another boy, Samurai, in a duel and makes a valuable
new friend when he challenges Brock, the local champion, while learning lessons about
friendship, perseverance, and honorable play. On Moon Mountain, he discovers a fallen
meteor with magical powers over the excessively cute Clefaries. Jessie and James, the Team
Rocket, attempt to steal the Moon Stone, but are defeated by Ash, Misty, and Brock in a
slapstick battle.

| Pokemon: The Sisters of Cerulean City
The Third of the Pokemon Video Series.
|
Ash Ketchum continues to work toward his goal of becoming a champion
Pokemon trainer as he challenges a trio of synchronized swimmers in "Cerulean
City"; A.J., a stern trainer, in "League"; and the conceited champion of a
posh prep school in "Hard Knocks." Assisted by Misty and his friend Brock, Ash
also overcomes the inept villains of Team Rocket and learns lessons about modesty,
honesty, and sportsmanship. Although Ash initially feels that A.J. drives his
Pokemons
too hard in "League," he discovers how deeply he cares for them when Team Rocket
tries to kidnap Sandshrew, his favorite. In "Hard Knocks," Ash defends a smaller
boy from bullying upper classmen, and shows the snobbish students that training.

| Pokemon: Poke-Friends
The Fourth of the Pokemon Video Series.
|
This video contains three episodes from the animated
Pokemon TV
series. Our intrepid heroes Ash and his friends continue their quest, collecting
Pokemons
along the way. In "Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village," the heroes stumble on to a
Pokemon health spa where injured Pokemon creatures can take in a little R&R. The
courageous Bulbasaur that defends the spa does not take kindly to Ash's desire to be his
trainer (and keep him in his Pokéball storage container). "Charmander--The Stray
Pokemon" finds the cute title character abandoned on a rock awaiting a new owner.
The poor critter will die if his tail light ever goes out. What will he do in the upcoming
thunderstorm? The title characters in "Here Comes the Squirtle Squad" are
water-spouting beasts with Jack Nicholson sunglasses and a one-word vocabulary
("squirtle, squirtle" is heard in a dozen different variations). Of course, Team
Rocket is there to foil our heroes and steal Ash's valuable Pickachu

| Pokemon: Thunder Shock!
The Fifth of the Pokemon Video Series.
|
Pokemon Master-in-training Ash Ketchum experiences further ups and downs,
with Misty teasing him and the practical Brock advising him. "Mystery at the
Lighthouse" recalls Ray Bradbury's short story "The Fog Horn." The single,
forlorn specimen of a huge seagoing Pokemon comes to a lonely lighthouse seeking
companionship, but the villains of Team Rocket drive off the unique creature before
"Pokemon scholar" Bill can study it. Moving on to Vermilion City, Ash wins a
Thunder Badge in a match against the local champion, whose no-holds-barred tactics have
sent more than a dozen Pokemons to the hospital. Ash and Pikachu prove that speed,
agility, and friendship can overcome brute strength. At their evil boss's bidding, Team
Rocket lures a crowd of Trainers onto the St. Anne ocean liner as part of a plot to
seize their Pokemons. Ash leads a counterattack that defeats the bad guys, but the
episode ends on an unusually ominous note, with Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu trapped in
the sinking ship. Even more ominous for parents is Bill's statement that there may be no
limit to the number of Pokemons beyond the known 151

| Pokemon: Seaside Pikachu
The Sixth of the Pokemon Video Series.
|
The continuing adventures of Pokemon pick up after the cliffhanger ending
of Thunder Lizard as Ash, Misty, Brock, and Team Rocket are trapped aboard a
sinking ocean liner. Ŕ la The Poseidon Adventure, they look to escape the
upside-down ship with plenty of Poké-action along the way. After making it (was there a
doubt?), the three heroes search for their lost Pokemon but find something else: Giant
Pokemons! Finally, we find the not-so-subtle differences between the
Pokemon Tentacool
and Tentacruel. The final segment has more gunplay than most episodes, but the real
challenge for parents will be the middle episode, which has five minutes of subtitled
scenes in which the Pokemons talk to each other.

| Pokemon: Psychic Surprise
The Seventh of the Pokemon Video Series.
|
The adventures of Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu veer toward the
supernatural in this set of three episodes of the popular Pokemon series. In "The
Ghost of Maiden's Peak," the perennially lonely Brock--and James of the evil but
inept Team Rocket--find themselves smitten with the ghost of a beautiful girl who died
2,000 years ago. Ash learns an important lesson about self-sacrifice and concern for
others when he gives up the first Pokemon he raised and trained in "Bye Bye
Butterfree." Despite the best efforts of Team Rocket, Butterfree finds a mate and
departs with her for their nesting grounds, giving this story an uncharacteristically
downbeat ending. After being lost in the woods for the umpteenth time, our heroes reach
Saffron City only to discover it's a very strange place in "Abra and the Psychic
Showdown." They're rescued from their initial run-in with Team Rocket by Sabrina, a
pretty little girl with mysterious psychic powers. The quartet learns that Sabrina can be
an unreliable ally--and an unpredictable opponent. This cliffhanger ends with Ash, Misty,
Brock, and Pikachu setting out for nearby Lavender Village to capture a ghost Pokemon to
use against Abra, Sabrina's psychic Pokemon
